Hot-rolled flat products
JIS G4304 establishes the product framework for covered hot-rolled stainless plate, sheet, and strip. The order must state grade, form, condition, dimensions, surface, tests, and the options required for the hot-rolled route.
Cold-rolled flat products
JIS G4305 establishes the product framework for covered cold-rolled stainless plate, sheet, and strip. Buyers select the required cold-rolled condition and surface together with dimensional and inspection requirements.
SUS designation and delivery evidence
Each order uses the applicable JIS grade designation and product requirements. International cross-references, special tolerances, visual samples, certificates, and project-specific tests must be stated rather than inferred.
What it does not control alone
- JIS G4304 and G4305 are separate hot-rolled and cold-rolled product standards; naming both without a controlled alternative does not define one delivery route or finish.
- They do not by themselves establish finished-equipment design, pressure acceptance, food-contact approval, welding qualification, corrosion suitability, fabrication inspection, or final component release.
- A SUS grade is not an unconditional ASTM, EN, or GB/T equivalent, and surface designations do not guarantee visual matching after polishing, forming, welding, or assembly.

What is the procurement difference between JIS G4304 and G4305?

Is SUS304 automatically the same as ASTM 304?
