Quote seamless or welded on the same basis
Seamless A312 pipe removes a longitudinal weld seam from the manufacturing route. Some client specifications or piping classes require it. Where either route is permitted, send the same size, schedule, condition and inspection scope; we quote both on that basis.

Send PMI lot scope, method, acceptance criteria and report with the RFQ. We quote heat traceability, EN 10204 document type and pressure-test records in the inspection plan.

Common ordering mistakes
- Treating NPS as the measured outside diameter or quoting a schedule without confirming the corresponding wall table.
- Assuming a 316L label automatically proves dual 316/316L certification or compliance with a particular design code.
- Requesting seamless as a quality adjective while omitting the product standard, heat treatment, dimensions and tests.
- Adding PMI, corrosion or NDE requirements after quotation rather than defining their scope and acceptance in the RFQ.
Handling and transport risks
- Beveled ends can be nicked or contaminated when protectors and bundle separation are not matched to the shipment route.
- Long small-bore pipe can bend when support spacing and lifting points are not defined for loading and unloading.
- Internal surfaces can collect moisture or debris if drying, closure and storage orientation are not controlled.
- Heat and length identification can be lost after cutting unless the order defines marking transfer and piece traceability.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between ordering by NPS and schedule versus OD and wall?
NPS and schedule reference a standardized dimensional series; NPS is not generally the measured outside diameter. OD and wall are direct dimensions used for some tube or project orders. Follow the system required by the product standard and piping class.
Can welded 316L pipe be substituted for seamless pipe?
Only when the governing design and purchaser approve the alternative. Quote it separately with the same grade, dimensions, standard and test scope so the construction route is visible rather than hidden.
Does TP316L seamless pipe automatically carry dual certification?
No. Dual certification is supported only when the ordered material and inspection document meet both designations. State the required designation in the RFQ and verify the accepted document package.
Which supplementary tests should be named in the RFQ?
Send any PMI, additional NDE, corrosion, impact, dimensional survey or third-party witnessing by method, lot scope, acceptance criteria and report requirement. We quote those extras only when they are in the RFQ.
How is traceability maintained after fixed-length cutting?
Specify piece or bundle marking, heat-number transfer, cut map if needed and the document linkage expected for each finished length. The confirmed route should match the project traceability level.
